Gut Microbiota in Health and Disease (on-site)

University of Eastern Finland, Faculty of Health Sciences

The course will help early career researchers understand the importance of maintaining a healthy gut microbiota and provide them with information on how to do so. This can include topics such as the foods that promote a healthy gut microbiota, the role of probiotics and prebiotics in gut health, and the impact of lifestyle factors such as stress and exercise on the gut microbiota. Research has shown that imbalances in the gut microbiota can lead to a wide range of health problems, including obesity, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and even mental health disorders. This course's importance is driven by the fact that gut microbiota is crucial in maintaining our overall health and well-being. The gut microbiota is a complex ecosystem of microorganisms that live in our digestive system and help us digest our food, produce vitamins, and support our immune system.
